My Idaho Pioneer family history started in 1806, in Forres, Moray, Scotland. That’s the birth date of John Duffes Sr., whose family were Highlanders, and belonged to the Sutherland Clan. He and his young wife established residence in Canada.
But it was his eldest son, Alexander, who came to Idaho, and where our story starts. A town was established, a well dug, and a railroad brought with it, homesteaders. Stories will be told of railroads, bridges, mining, stagecoaches and many other things.
In addition, retirement has allowed us to travel around the local area, to different historic sites of interest. I will write about our travels, replete with photographs of our adventures. If a story peaks interest in a related subject, I will include a link or story as well.
If the History of Idaho peaks your interest, or you wish to see some really old photographs, come and join us. You can leave a comment, or if you have a related subject or photo, please contact me.
